If you visit the famous arch of Washington Square Park on Monday, you will likely see a line of models waiting to be painted by street body paint artist Andy Golub.
Once Golub heard that the Outdoor Co-ed Topless Pulp Fiction Appreciation Society will be at the park, he decided to stop by and offer his body painting services. Several members have already volunteered including Nicolette, a woman bound to a wheelchair.
This is the 3rd time Golub will be painting Nicolette. The first time was last July at NYC Bodypainting Day. Both plan to return to the event this July 9th, now in it’s 3rd year.
The artist and the models are all happy to discuss ideas of equal rights for women, public nudity laws, or the fun of getting painted.
In 2011, Golub was arrested for body painting nude models in the public streets. In 2013, the NYPD acknowledged that Golub’s public art performances are legal. In 2014, Golub organized the first Bodypainting Day, which has also expanded to the city of Amsterdam.
